Hexachloroethane (C2Cl6; a.k.a. PCA, Carbon hexachloride, Ethane hexachloride and Perchloroethane) is a white crystalline solid at room temperature. It is used in smoke compositions, such as base-eject smoke grenades.
Smoke grenades, called hexachloroethane (HCE) smoke or HC smoke, utilize a mixture containing roughly equal parts of HCE and zinc oxide and approximately 6% granular aluminium.
IPI supplies Hexachloroethane in accordance with the MIL-H-235C specification.
